LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) — A truck fire on the Long Island Expressway Sunday caused the major roadway to be shut down for hours in both directions near exit 36, police said.
Authorities said the truck was carrying tires. About two hours after the fire started, the eastbound lanes reopened.
Westbound traffic was restricted to the HOV lane but has since fully reopened as of Monday morning.
No one was injured, according to authorities.
