SYOSSET, N.Y. — Nassau County police say one person is dead after a car caught fire on a residential street in Nassau County Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a call around 4:30 p.m. for a car fire in front of 276 Southwood Circle in Syosset.

Once firefighters extinguished the blaze inside of the 2006 Mercedes-Benz CLS500, they found one person dead inside.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

No other injuries have been reported.
