BROOKHAVEN, Long Island (PIX11) — Paleontologists on Long Island have discovered the fossils of a new groundhog-like creature.

It’s called a “Vintana” and scientists say it lived among dinosaurs some 70 million years ago.

A team at Stony Brook University were the ones who found the fossils of the large, meat-eating mammal.

The vintana will be put in an exhibit with other fossils from Madagascar.
