NEW YORK (PIX11) – The Port Authority closed all lanes of the Lincoln Tunnel to New Jersey on Friday due to a vehicle fire, officials said.

The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m., during the peak evening rush hour commute. The tunnel reopened just before 6 p.m. but significant delays remained.

“The Lincoln Tunnel North Tube to NJ is reopened. The earlier vehicle fire has been cleared. Expect residual delays,” a Port Authority official said.
