Delivery driver dies after crashing e-scooter into parked truck on Upper East Side: NYPD

UPPER EAST SIDE, Manhattan — A food delivery driver on an e-scooter died after crashing into a parked truck in Manhattan on Monday evening, according to the NYPD.

Officials said it happened at about 5:10 p.m. as the driver, 31, was riding his electronic scooter northbound on First Avenue, near East 76th Street.

The e-scooter operator suddenly struck a parked Freightliner box truck, authorities said.

He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials later identified the victim as Salvador Navarette-Flores of the Bronx.

Police said the investigation was ongoing Tuesday morning by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Unit.
