KENSINGTON, Brooklyn — A woman was killed and her husband was hospitalized after the couple were struck by a vehicle in Brooklyn as they tried to cross the street Saturday afternoon, according to police.

The husband and wife were attempting to cross the street around 3:20 p.m., at the intersection of East 4th Street and Church Avenue in the Kensington neighborhood, when they were struck by a Cadillac SRX, police said.

Police arrived to find Olga Feldman, 60, with injuries to her body, while her husband, 72, had a wrist injury, officials said.

Both were taken to a local hospital, where the woman was pronounced dead, according to police.

“I’m sad. It’s been a very hard loss on the whole family,” Feldman’s son told PIX11 Saturday night. “She was really a cornerstone to everybody. She was a very caring person, very heartfelt, so it’s hard losing her,” he added.

Authorities said the car was traveling westbound on Church Avenue when it struck the pair crossing the avenue.

Surveillance video obtained by PIX11 appears to show the car stopped at the intersection despite having a green light, then taking off once the light has turned red. It is at this point when the car can be seen striking the couple crossing the street.

Witnesses told PIX11’s Ayana Harry that the driver got out of his car and ran to the woman lying on the ground.

Police confirmed the driver stayed at the scene. There are no arrests or charges filed at this time.
