BUSHWICK, Brooklyn (PIX11) — Police in Brooklyn made a startling discovery this morning when they found a rocket launcher inside a Brooklyn home.

People in the neighborhood are a little on-edge: they say they just can’t believe a weapon so powerful was right here on Knickerbocker Avenue.

Cops arrested 41-year-old Juan Garcia for having this: an M72 LAW … a 1960s rocket launcher so powerful it can blast through an armored tank.

Police made the discovery after executing a search warrant here at 846 Knickerbocker Avenue this morning. Neighbors are stunned.

“That’s insane,” Alex Reyes, a neighbor said .”That’s crazy … I don’t know why something like that would be here at all.”

Police sources say they also removed brass knuckles and drug paraphernalia from the home.

Investigators were tipped off to the Brooklyn house after making a gun arrest in the Bronx.

“It just goes to show there are a lot of weapons on the street,” Jermaine Britt, another neighbor said. “You never know who your next-door neighbor is.”

Garcia is behind bars tonight. He is charged with criminal use of paraphernalia and criminal possession of a weapon.
