BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn — Police are searching for a person of interest who allegedly robbed a Brooklyn grocery store and assaulted a cashier Sunday evening.

The incident happened at Ideal Food Basket on Lafayette Avenue around 6:40 p.m.

Surveillance video shows the individual wearing a grey sweatshirt, approaching the cashier with a gun in hand. The victim, who is seen being held by the culprit, opens up the cash register.

The man then reaches into the register, grabbing $1,600 before hitting the cashier with a gun and running away.
