PROSPECT PARK SOUTH — An NYPD lieutenant was rushed to the hospital Monday after he was stabbed in the arm in Brooklyn, police said.

It happened shortly after 11 a.m. inside 145 E.18th St., a residential building with medical offices on the ground floor.  The suspect, an unidentified woman, barricaded herself inside her 4th floor apartment and refused to come out.  When she opened the door, she was holding a kitchen knife she used to stab the 70th Precinct officer.

The lieutenant was taken to a hospital with wounds that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.

A witness told PIX11 the building is a hotspot for trouble, but that they hadn’t seen the suspect show any signs of instability or violence.

“She always walked through, doing her shopping, coming and going,” Kim Johnson told PIX11.  “I’ve never seen her bother anybody.”

A person is in custody.
