BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A man has been arrested in connection with the 2014 disappearance of a woman in Brooklyn after he walked into a police precinct and confessed to killing her, dismembering her and dumping her body on the curb in garbage bags, police said.

The remains of the victim — identified as Maria Quinones, 58 — have not been found, police said.

Ricky Gonzalez, 34, of Beacon, N.Y., walked into a police precinct in Manhattan on Tuesday and told officers that he’d stabbed and dismembered Quinones in March 2014 inside the home they shared on Wilson Avenue in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The next day, Gonzalez was arrested and charged with murder and concealment of a human corpse.

Police said the pair had lived together but did not reveal additional details about their relationship to each other. Neighbors said they were dating and had met at a drug rehab program where Quinones worked.

Investigators said Gonzalez’s confession corresponded with a missing person report that had been filed. Quinones’ sister had made the report on Sept. 10, 2014, after not hearing from the victim since March 5 of that year, according to court documents obtained by PIX11 News.

Gonzalez allegedly told police that he stabbed Quinones in the bathroom of her home, reaching around her from behind and plunging a “sharp knife” into her chest, near her heart, court documents show.

Gonzalez then allegedly dragged Quinones into the shower and, with a butcher knife and a blade sharpener, beheaded the victim, chopped off her limbs and cut her torso into two pieces, court documents show.

He then allegedly stuffed her body parts into garbage bags and put them on the curb to be picked up during routine trash collection, court documents show.
