Lottery for $596 a month apartments in Williamsburg opens

The old Domino Sugar Factory site is being converted to apartments.

WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — Affordable apartment hunters in New York City can start applications for Williamsburg apartments at the old Domino Sugar Factory site on Monday.

More than 100 apartments at 325 Kent Ave. will be available through the housing lottery, which runs Nov. 28 – Jan. 20. Only singles making between $21,722 and $25,400 annually are eligible for the buildings cheapest, $596 a month apartments.

There are also eight 1-bedrooms for $640 a month, two 2-bedrooms for $775 a month, 34 studios for $754 a month, 41 1-bedrooms for $810 a month and 13 2-bedrooms for $979 a month. Applicants for the 2-bedroom units cannot make more than $54,360 annually.

Applicants who live in New York City, especially applicants who live in the range of Brooklyn’s Community Board 1, will receive preference for apartments

The building will have parking, bike storage and a gym available.

Interested people can apply online at nyc.gov/housingconnect or ask for an application by mail at 325 Kent Apts, 243 5th Avenue, Box 425, New York NY 10016.
