SUNSET PARK, Brooklyn – Police say a waitress stabbed a man to death at a Chinese restaurant late Monday night.

The victim identified as Jian-Yang Zhang, 41, of Brooklyn, was visiting his sister at her restaurant, Lucky Zhang Family on Eighth Avenue in Sunset Park when he got into a verbal dispute with a female worker around 10 p.m., police said.

The 35-year-old employee then allegedly stabbed him twice, once in the back and neck, before initially fleeing the scene, NYPD said. Zhang was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where he was pronounced dead approximately an hour later.

The female employee is now in custody with charges pending, police said.

A police source said she claims her actions were done in self-defense. Also, both seem to have had a relationship before the fatal stabbing.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
