BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn — A 23-year-old Brooklyn father is charged with torturing his three-year-old son by burning, whipping and forcing him to kneel on Legos.

The toddler’s grandmother, 52, made a report of child abuse at the family’s home, according to police.

The child had “multiple injuries from his father,” police said. He was also severely malnourished and taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Leonardo Decouite, 23, the child’s father, was arrested Saturday and charged with assault.

Decouite hit the three-year-old in the face, with a belt across his back and face, and whipped a cord on his stomach and back, a criminal complaint said.

Decouite also forced his son to kneel on Legos until he bled, pushed the child under hot water until his feet started to burn and put out lit cigarettes on the child’s legs and stomach, the complaint said. He also allegedly shot the child in the foot with a BB gun three times.

According to the complaint, the child had second-degree burns on his hand and feet and permanent scarring, bruising and swollen cheeks, and marks to the legs and back that appear to be caused by a lighter or cigarette, circular welts to the stomach and back and now has limited use of his hand.

Decouite has 14 prior charges, police say. In November, he was charged with criminal sale of marijuana.

The toddler’s mother, Kiana Mohansingh, 20, was also charged with assault. She allegedly did not seek medical attention for the child’s injuries, according to a criminal complaint.

A 6-year-old girl was also in the home, uninjured.
