Construction worker falls to his death after getting hit by debris

BOROUGH PARK, Brooklyn – Police said a construction worker has died after getting hit by debris and falling from the second floor to the first floor inside a building.

The NYPD said officers responded to a call of a unconscious person at 1229 45th St. at approximately 2:15 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, they found 22-year-old Alex Santizo of Queens in unresponsive state. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation found Santizo was hit by a piece of debris and then he fell in the shaft from the second to the first floor of the Borough Park building, police said.

There were no other reported injuries and the investigation continues.
