EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn — A child was seriously injured after he was attacked by the family’s pit bulls in East New York Friday evening, FDNY officials confirm.

The boy, 5, was mauled by two pit bulls in his home on Riverdale Avenue about 6:45 p.m., police said. He was home with his dad at the time of the attack.

“The father was yelling and screaming, acting hysterical once he heard the dog biting on the baby,” a neighbor told PIX11 News.

“We came outside and saw the ambulance rushing the baby to the hospital,” he said.

The boy, identified as Jeremiah Rivera by neighbors, is in critical condition, police said. He was taken to the nearby hospital but moved to another location for more extensive care.

“It’s hard cause I feel like if that was my child. It’s just so hurtful I really hope he makes it, and he didn’t deserve it. Honestly, innocent kid,” a neighbor said.

Emergency services responded and went to the home to tranquilize the dogs. They were carried out of the house in cages and were taken to Animal Care and Control in Manhattan, the NYPD said.
