GRAVESEND, Brooklyn — On what is expected to be the coldest night of the season so far, rapper Cardi B paid a visit to the Marlboro Houses in Brooklyn Thursday night to meet with fans and hand out winter jackets and boots.

The Bronx-born rapper was scheduled to arrive at 5 p.m., but didn’t show up until around 8 p.m., telling reporters she was unaware of an earlier photo shoot. Some fans were lined up outside the housing complex at 2 p.m.

Cardi B first met with neighborhood children inside the Marlboro House’s community center. She was greeted with balloons, handmade cards and a giant birthday cake. She posed for pictures and met her youngest fans while distributing winter jackets and boots.

“We’ve gotta set an example for the kids and the future,” Cardi B said. “You know, sometimes people think that we just be doing the messed up things, but we really, really, really care for our kids, our community and everything.”

Cardi B then went across the street to the Boost Mobile store, where she then distributed piles of coats to adults in need. The 26-year-old rapper also met with fans who stood outside to see her but did not have tickets to receive a coat.

Cardi B was also gifted with a key to the Marlboro Houses, so she can return any time she likes.
