Car crash in the Bronx leaves 1 dead, 5 injured

THE BRONX — A car speeding down Bronxwood Avenue crashed into an SUV, killing one person and injuring five others early Sunday morning.

A 28-year-old man was driving a BMW when it crashed into an Cadillac at the intersection of Bronxwood Avenue and E. 219th Street shortly before 5 a.m.

The Cadillac turned on its side and also struck three unoccupied parked cars.

Six people involved in the crash were rushed to the hospital, police said. One man, identified as Michael Rhone, 39, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Three people are in critical condition. Two others, a teenage man and 30-year-old man, are listed in stable condition.

This is an ongoing investigation.
