CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn — Crown Heights restaurant The Bergen has started giving out out free meals to kids and families in need from their Brooklyn community.

Owner Ty Brown told the PIX11 Morning News why it was important for him to give back and how the restaurant can manage to give away the food while business is down across the city due to the coronavirus crisis.

Brown said the eatery is able to do this due to donations from New Yorkers. If you’d like to donate or volunteer, head to The Bergen’s Facebook page here.

The restaurant started by providing free brown-bag lunches for kids out of school and now gives out free lunch and dinner.

The Bergen is located at 1299 Bergen Street in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
