THE BRONX — Police are looking for a man who brutally assaulted a woman during an attempted robbery inside the entrance of her Bronx apartment building last Wednesday.

The incident happened in the vicinity of East 201 Street and Briggs Avenue at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Surveillance video shows the attacker approaching the 40-year-old victim and trying to remove her bag from her shoulder. During the struggle, he punched her in the face and viciously threw her down.

The bald-headed assailant fled eastbound on East 201 Street on a bicycle without any property, according to authorities.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a facial fracture and a laceration to the head.

The suspect is believed to be between 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a yellow shirt and gloves.
