MORRISANIA, the Bronx — A 68-year-old man who uses a walker to get around was attacked in the lobby of his own apartment building in the Bronx, police said.

He’s so shaken, he spoke to PIX11 News through a cracked door to conceal his identity.

“I’ve never been robbed a day in my life. It’s hard to get over,” he said.

The attacker has been linked to at least two incidents, police said.

Investigators released video on Tuesday of the most recent attack involving that man using a walker. It happened on April 12 in the lobby of an apartment building on Third Avenue and East 167th Street, police said.

Video shows the culprit wearing a mask as he waits in the lobby. When the unsuspecting victim walks past him, the man grabs the victim from behind then dragged him back into a stairwell, all the while putting the victim in a chokehold and telling him to “shut up, shut up.”

The victim was robbed of his cellphone and wallet, which contained $300, police said.

Police believe the same attacker was involved in a Feb. 4 robbery in the same building. In that case, he put a 48-year-old man in a chokehold and took the victim’s wallet and cellphone.

The robber is described as standing about 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black knit cap or a balaclava, a red or orange hooded sweater with black writing on the chest, black sweatpants and multi-colored sneakers.

Anyone with information in either case is urged to call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
