THE BRONX– Police have arrested a 22-year-old woman who stabbed an expectant mother to death in her Bronx apartment yesterday afternoon.

Ashleigh Wade faces several charges for murdering 22-year-old Angelikque Sutton inside 4450 Monticello Avenue, the NYPD said Saturday.

Police responded to 911 call of a dispute with physical injuries just after 2:20 p.m. Friday. Upon arrival, officer discovered Sutton with multiple stab wounds to her torso.

Cops said Wade cut up Sutton’s stomach and took her baby. The woman claimed the baby was hers even though there are no signs she was pregnant, according to Bronx councilman Andy King.

King said he believes it was over a case of baby snatching that turned into murder.

“A horrific altercation between two 22-year old ladies.  One was allegedly pregnant and there was a fight.  And the pregnant women was stabbed and strangled and the fetus was removed,” King said.

Sutton was taken to Montefiore Hospital where she was pronounced dead, according to police.

Wade and the child’s father were taken into custody later that day.
