EDENWALD, The Bronx — A Bronx school staff member has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 14-year-old with special needs.

Police say Yakubu Abdulazeez, 51, was taken into custody Tuesday at The Christopher School on E. 229th Street.

According to The Christopher School’s website, the New York State certified special education school provides a residential setting “for children with developmental disabilities who require 24-hour supervision.”

A witness reportedly walked in on Abdulazeez and the victim, 14, during an alleged assault. Police say the victim lives at the school.

Abdulazeez was charged with sexual contact with an individual under 17 and sexual abuse. It’s unknown at this time what the suspect’s job is at the school.

The victim was taken to Jacobi Medical Center.
