Bronx man allegedly kills girlfriend, dumps her body in the trash: NYPD

MOUNT EDEN, The Bronx — A Bronx man has been arrested after he confessed to police that he killed his girlfriend because he “realized he hated her,” authorities confirmed Tuesday.

Surveillance video obtained by police shows a man identified as Miguel Bonilla, 44, wheeling a shopping cart containing what appeared to be the body of Juana Alvarez, 52, from home at 1460 Grand Concourse.

Alvarez has been missing since July 11. Her body had not been recovered as of Tuesday night, police say.

Bonilla was taken into custody by transit officers Monday after he was caught jumping a turnstile. He then confessed to stabbing his girlfriend to death in the head and torso then later dumping her in the dumpster outside his building.

Prosecutors said at Bonilla’s arraignment that he woke up one July morning, “realized he hated her” and stabbed her to death.

Bonilla was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. He has a history of 24 prior arrests including robbery and narcotics related offenses.

Bonilla has not entered a plea and remains in jail.
