MIDTOWN — You gotta hand to New York, there’s always something going on and something going up.
But a new building under construction along the East River in Midtown has many scratching their heads.
At first glance it looks like your average work in progress in the city skyline but if you take a good look at it, it almost appears like its kind of leaning.
Many online noted that it was indeed “falling over.”
The building, located at 626 First Avenue, caught the eye of many this week with posts on Reddit sparking concern and hilarity.
One commenter saying “it looks like the taller building is trying to help his drunk building friend from falling over.”
Believe it or not — that’s actually on purpose.
The development – which is designed by SHoP Arthitects – will ultimately be two curving, copper-clad residential towers that connect via skybridge.
The unique structure is being erected on a plot of land that was long considered an eye sore on the East side of Manhattan but when its completed it will house a ton of over-the-top luxuries including a snazzy rooftop deck with an infinity-edge pool.
The buildings are set to be completed by late 2016.
So now that that mystery is solved, the jury is still out on this gem in the Financial District.
Like seriously – we don’t get it.
