There is another option in addition to the Citi Bike program: A bike that can be parked anywhere using a regular bike rack.

The company that created the bike is called Social Bicycles and is led by a former New York City DOT employee.

Earlier we got a first hand look at the technology.

Now opponents of the Social Bike model say they’re  concerned that if people are allowed to park bikes anywhere, the bikes will end up parked in places they shouldn’t be.

But soon you can decide which bike program you think is better for yourself.  Social Bicycles will begin a 6 month pilot program just across the river in Hoboken starting the first week in June.
