NEW YORK (PIX11) — For 19 days, a man lay in his hospital bed unconscious and unidentified with no family by his side until a caring PIX 11 viewer figured out who he was and got in touch with his daughter.
“He’s an angel. Not a lot of people would do what he did,” Mariselli Canales told PIX 11 News.
Pix 11 viewer Robert Ortiz says he always tries to do the right thing so when he saw this picture of a missing father and the urgent plea from his daughter posted on a lamppost near his home in Upper Manhattan, Ortiz posted it on his own Facebook page to try to help.
“Then I saw a picture on the PIX 11 Facebook page and it looked like the picture on the flier,” Ortiz said. He then sent a screen shot to the daughter.
Mariselli Canales had spent the last 19 days searching for her father Efrain who never made it home to Manhattan from his auto body shop job in Brooklyn.
Thanks to Robert Ortiz, the daughter now knows her father had a stroke on the D train, was found at the end of the line and rushed to the hospital where he has been unconscious and unidentified for almost three weeks.
“He’s my angel. Most people don’t look closely at those pictures posted on lampposts, but he did,” Canales said. “He’s an angel.”
