The World Cup starts this week in Brazil and Cruz Builles, a big time local soccer fan, was excited to be going.

She loves three teams: The U.S., Colombia and Ecuador. She had her airline ticket, hotel reservation and game tickets.

Only one problem: she didn’t have any spending money.

That’s because she was due $1,162 in a refund for her original airfare booking.

“In December of 2013, I purchased my airline ticket with Tam Airline through And Tam Airlines in March of 2014 changed my itinerary and I couldn’t accept it because it was disruptive to my plans,” Bullies said.

Bullies  was offered a refund and accepted. But the money never came.

She contacted the website and the Brazilian airline. Each blamed the other. So she contacted us.

We had trouble getting through to the right people at the parent company of the website from which Bullies bought her original ticket. But we found attorneys who represented the parent company, lBF Travel, in unrelated litigation. We emailed them, they forwarded the email and in a couple of hours we got a call back.

IBF Travel said they’d look into it. And true to their word, within two more hours they called us back to say there had been a mistake. They blamed a clerical error that didn’t credit Bullies with the refund and overnighted her check.

She is ecstatic and ready to have a blast in Brazil.
