EAST WILLIAMSBURG (PIX11) — What if you don’t have a doorman, and don’t have the luxury of waiting at home for those new pair of shoes, or sweater.  Fresh out of college, and new to New York, Jesse Kaplan found out very quickly.

“I ended up coming home practically every day to all these missed package slips covering my door and I was spending weekend after weekend tracking down these packages at post offices across the city,” said Kaplan.

And then it hit him.

“I thought, why can’t I just send this somewhere else, and then pay for someone else to bring it to me when I’m actually home,” the 23-year-old Harvard grad said to himself.

Kaplan listened to 73 people tell their horror stories, then tested his idea out on them.  It worked, and the young entrepreneur is very comfortable having the slogan “No doorman? No problem” on his fleet of delivery

vans.  The new company is simply called Parcel.  After setting up an account, user can send packages to Parcel’s warehouse in East Williamsburg.

You enter that address as your own when you’re shopping online and as soon as your package arrives here, we’ll shoot you a text message and let you choose a one hour window for delivery that evening.

It’s $5 a delivery and it can include multiple packages, so long as the total weight doesn’t exceed 30lbs.

Parcel serves all of Manhattan, and the west part of Brooklyn, making deliveries every evening from 7pm to 11pm except Saturday.
