An investigation is underway after a hacker broke into the email accounts of several Bush family members, gaining access to personal correspondence – including private photos and messages between friends and family.

The Secret Service confirmed the hacking of the former First Family on Friday, saying they were looking into the highly sensitive matter.

The hacker who identified himself as “Guccifer” posted some of the photos online which were obtained by The Smoking Gun.

In one photo, George Bush senior poses with former President Bill Clinton during what appears to be a retreat, another is a bedside snap shot of Papa Bush while he was hospitalized late last year.

The candid photos are just some of the many documents the hacker snatched. “Guccifer” is reportedly claiming to have obtained quote “interesting mails” about Bush family members.

A Bush family spokesperson did not reveal any further details on the hacking except, only confirming to the Houston Chronicle that an investigation was indeed underway.
