INWOOD, Manhattan (PIX11) –– A rash of attacks on bicyclists who like to ride in three West Side Manhattan parks has prompted the Guardian Angels to step in.

About a dozen angels are patroling Inwood Park, Fort Tryon Park and Riverside Park on a daily basis, both by foot and by bike.

Angels co-founder Curtis Sliwa is leading some of those patrols.

They will continue around the clock as to keep an eye out for trouble while handing out tips for staying safe in the park.

A local business owner gave the Angels a $20,000 dollar check to spread the patrols from West 72nd Street to West 220th Street.
