UNION SQUARE, Manhattan (PIX11) — Mayor Bill de Blasio, NYPD Commissioner Bratton, FBI and NYPD officials were at the Union Square Subway Station Thursday to show the subways are safe after Iraq’s Prime Minister reportedly said a plot had been uncovered to attack subways in New York City and in France.
They told New Yorkers to be prepared for stepped up security.

“We also have our transit anti-terrorism units conducting the bag inspections,” said Bratton.

“You may be asked to open your bag, may find there are spot check points,” said de Blasio.

Bratton said they will keep the added security until they have a clarification working with intelligence partners as to whether there is any validity to the concerns raised by the Prime Minister.
