BAYONNE, New Jersey (PIX11) – FBI agents arrested a Bayonne police officer Friday morning in connection with a 2013 case of alleged police brutality.

Officer Domenico Lillo faces charges of deprivation of civil rights and falsification of records after a Dec 27. 2013 arrest that resulted in a federal police brutality lawsuit filed in November of last year.

According to the plaintiff, 26-year-old Brandon Walsh, Lillo and two other officers stormed into his Avenue C home while trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant.  They allegedly pepper-sprayed both Walsh and his mother, sickening her grandchildren and other family members.

Once in handcuffs, the officers are accused of striking him multiple times in the face with a “flashlight or blunt instrument,” according to the Jersey Journal.

Police claim Walsh struggled with the officers, even after they cuffed him — at one point trying to pull away so strongly that he fell, bringing an officer down on top of him.

Lillo was due in U.S. District Court for arraignment at 2:00 p.m.
