FAR ROCKAWAY – They say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, but for Sharon Plummer it did, tragically.

Two of her children, 18-year-old Shawn Plummer and 16-year-old Neshawn Plummer were murdered two blocks apart from one another in Far Rockaway on Seagirt Avenue in a span of only three years.

Shawn was gunned down in 2012 while riding his bike.  Plummer says she’ll never forget that day and still remembers hearing the shots ringing out.

“I saw it was Shawn laying in a pool of blood in his friends hands screaming, ‘You shot my brother! You shot my brother!” recalled Plummer of that July day.

Plummer moved out of Far Rockaway because of the escalating violence on the streets there, and yet, she still couldn’t protect her youngest.  Neshawn, 16, went back to his old neighborhood this past Sunday to visit friends when he was tragically murdered.

The NYPD releasing this surveillance video showing the suspects they believe to be responsible.

Plummer told PIX11 the circumstances surrounding both of her sons’ deaths are being chalked up to ‘wrong place, wrong time’ and neither were the intended victims.  Never, said Plummer, were her sons ever in trouble with the law and never were they involved with any gangs.

“I tell my kids all the while you walk a straight path and I will back you. You make a left or a right, you are on your own,” said Plummer.

The two brothers had dreams and goals to make their mother proud.  Shawn wanted to be a mechanic and Neshawn had aspirations of becoming a pediatrician.  Just days away from starting a new school year, Sharon said Neshawn came to her to make a promise.

“He made me a promise before that, ‘Mommy I’m going to go to school in September. I’m going to make you proud. I’m going to do what I have to do for my brother.  Shawn wasn’t here to graduate from high school and I’m going to do it for my brother.  Mommy I promise you,'” said Plummer tearfully.

Sadly Neshawn’s promise was never fulfilled.

If you or anyone you know has any information about the shooters involved in Neshawn’s death, call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS
