NEW YORK, N.Y. (PIX11)— It’s always a love-hate affair when a series finale airs. The same can be said about AMC’s Mad Men, which ended Sunday night.
The drama series (2007-2015) follows the exploits of Madison Avenue’s executive ad men and mysterious Don Draper during the transformative 1960s. Running for seven seasons and accumulating various distinctions, executive producer Matthew Weiner kept the show’s expectations to a low, letting fans decide for themselves.
“Ending a TV show is not a natural thing to do,” Weiner, who was a producer for HBO’s Sopranos told the New York Times. “Nobody’s happy about it.”
Naturally, expectations went through the roof regardless of what was said, some were disappointed and others content with its culmination.
The show fittingly finished with one of the most famous and beloved commercials in television history “I’d Like to Buy the World a Coke.” After pursuing the interest of company titans such as Coke, the ad presumably was a brainchild of the title characters.
