Daffodils planted in Times Square to honor lives lost on 9/11, to COVID pandemic

MANHATTAN — Hundreds of daffodils were planted in Times Square Tuesday to honor live lost to two pivotal New York tragedies: 9/11 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s a part of a citywide effort to plant more than 1 million flowers this fall

The project first began 20 years ago after Sept. 11, 2001, with more than 8 million daffodils planted so far.
