KIPS BAY, Manhattan — The dining room may be empty, and foot traffic nonexistent, but the kitchen inside HandCraft Kitchen and Cocktails is bustling.
The Kips Bay hot spot known for its craft cocktails and beer is still serving up the comfort food classics at a time where comfort ain’t such a bad thing.
Co-owners Chad Gaudet and Chris Delmond said despite the obstacles, they have no plans to abandon their community.
“You know, business is down about 60 to 70%, but we are doing takeout and delivery, so we are keeping the lights on and we’re going to keep some people employed,” Delmond told PIX11.
The restaurant, like many across the area, had to rework its entire business model overnight, shifting to delivery and pickup only.
Handcraft Kitchen took it a step further — rolling out an entire new menu complete with family meals on a budget.
“We are not trying to gouge people,” Gaudet explained.
”We are trying to keep our doors open and serve the community the best we can.”
The restaurant has created three different to-go menu,s all featuring their most popular dishes, such as their HandCraft Burger, mac & cheese, fried chicken sandwich, tacos and many others.
Special delivery and take-out menus include:
- $12 Menu featuring single orders of a variety of HandCraft favorites
- $30 Menu Half-Tray Meals of tacos, pasta and meatballs, mac & cheese and more, perfect for families and roommates
- $30 Burger Menu of four HandCraft Burgers and a basket of fries, or two HandCraft Burgers and 2 fried chicken sandwiches with a basket of fries
HandCraft is also delivering craft beer — buy three, get the fourth free — bottles of wine and bottles of spirits, all with the purchase of food as mandated by New York state law. They’re open Monday through Saturday for pickup and delivery starting at 12 p.m.
