STONY BROOK, L.I. — Despite the chilly rain and wind, nurses at Stony Brook University Hospital on Long Island were all smiles Thursday afternoon.

They welcomed 21 critical care and emergency department nurses from upstate hospitals with open arms.

The volunteers arrive at a critical time at the hospital and will be helping local healthcare workers with the treatment of patients with the coronavirus.
