LONG ISLAND — A Long Island nurse thrust into caring for coronavirus patients has taken action to help her patients in a unique way.

The Long Island Jewish Valley Stream Hospital nurse realized that cellphones act as the only connection between patients and the outside world. Unfortunately, many don’t remember to bring chargers when rushing to the hospital.

So nurse Saige Amoruso launched a Facebook page to collect money for chargers. Patients at many local hospitals are now receiving chargers.

More than 3,500 have been donated so far.
