STATEN ISLAND — While New York and the country brace for what officials warn might be the hardest week yet of the coronavirus crisis, Staten Island University Hospital is sharing a bit of hope with a moving new video.
In the video posted to Facebook on Saturday, mother of five Christina Paz is sent off by applause from doctors and nurses as she’s wheeled toward the hospital doors to be discharged after a 15-day battle with COVID-19.
The hospital said in their post that Paz, 47, even received critical care while battling the novel coronavirus for over two weeks.
Emotions are high as Paz reunites with her husband waiting at the doors, the couple embracing in tears.
As of Sunday, New York City COVID-19 cases have reached 67,552, with the death toll rising to over 2,600, and positive cases statewide exceeding 122,000.
