OSSINING, NY — A state correction officer at Sing Sing in Westchester County has tested positive for novel coronavirus, officials said Wednesday.

No inmates at state corrections facilities have tested positive for COVID-19, though two incarcerated individuals have been tested, officials said. Their tests came back negative.

In Albany, a civilian member of the Department of Corrections has COVID-19.

A Department of Correction worker in New York City died from coronavirus. The worker, an investigator who had limited contact with people in custody, died at a local hospital, DOC Commissioner Cynthia Brann said. A correction officer stationed at the Rikers Island jail facility has tested positive for COVID-19.

People who were in contact with all of the sick workers have been notified.
