CONNECTICUT (PIX11) — Eastern Connecticut experienced its 12th earthquake in just one week Thursday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said a 2.2 magnitude earthquake struck around 4:40 a.m. near the Rhode Island border. Earthquakes have rattled Eastern Connecticut every day for the last four days and has hit 12 times since Jan. 8.

Scientists are now examining the area to determine whether it is experiencing an “Earthquake Swarm” — similar to the one that Maine experienced several years ago.
