Clown holding kitchen knife allegedly menaces 14-year-old boy on Long Island: police

LAKEVIEW, N.Y. — Nassau County Police are  investigating after a 14-year-old boy said he was approached by a clown holding a large kitchen knife.

The incident happened at 3:05 p.m. Wednesday in Lakeview.

Detectives say the 14-year-old boy left Malverne High School, crossed into an opening in a fence at the dead end of Clinton Avenue, and into an alleyway at Jefferson Avenue, where he was approached from behind by an unknown person.

The person was dressed in a purple clown costume with a white mask, red wig and was holding a large kitchen knife.

Officials say the boy ran away, but noticed the clown was not following him.

He described the clown as 6-feet-tall with a thin build. The teen was not injured.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
