NEW YORK (PIX11) — Chris Mullin has agreed to become the new basketball coach at St. John’s University, multiple sources are reporting.

The 51-year-old former St. John’s star won the Big East Player of the Year award three times in the 1980s, according to ESPN. Mullin is also a two-time Olympic gold medalist and was induced into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Mullin will replace Steve Lavin, who left the Red Storm on Friday after five seasons.
