NEW YORK – Carlos Pinto is always on the lookout for pieces of New York City and he never passes up an expired MetroCard.

His art is also an act of recycling. Pinto creates mosaics of landmarks, landscapes and famous people.

He works from his neighborhood in Flatbush, Brooklyn. He moved here from Guatemala and has worked in the New York art scene for more than 10 years.

Currently, The Bishop Gallery on Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn is showcasing his work. In Manhattan, his work can be seen at Elena AB in Tribeca.
