BRONX(PIX11) — Navigating New York City streets is a challenge for everyone.

Ask the bus operators.

The MTA took PIX11 News Reporter Greg Mocker into the training center in the Bronx. Recruits spend about six weeks in training. That includes classwork and road tests.

A simulator is also available.

In response to the city’s “Vision Zero” laws, this month the MTA added a class that addresses a bus operator’s responsibilities. Each operator will attend the class each year.

Under the law, some bus operators have been arrested and charged for crashes involving pedestrians in the crosswalk.
