Yes it does if not maintained properly. You need to be on top of the oil changes religiously since oil runs through it. Most people don’t follow these rules. Especially lease vehicles. If maintained right you can get some good life out of the engine because turbo cars have low piston compression at idle so there isn’t a constant load on the engine until the turbo kicks in when accelerating. So to answer your question, yes it can increase wear on your engine only if not taken care of properly otherwise turbo engines can last for awhile. But again most people with turbo cars don’t know the rules. Which kind of gives turbos a bad name. I’m really not a big fan of turbos engine myself.
