WILLIAMSBURG, Brooklyn — Nearly a dozen people were hurt when an FDNY ladder truck collided with another vehicle as it made its way to a reported structural fire Friday afternoon, a department spokesperson told PIX11 News.

Police officials said the truck was responding to a residential fire with lights and sirens; it entered an intersection at S Fifth Street and Driggs Avenue when it struck a vehicle that was turning, hitting the side of the vehicle.

Ten people — two firefighters and eight civilians — were taken to local hospitals and treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening, officials said.
