NEW YORK (PIX11) — Nearly seven years after protests of the controversial Dakota Access Pipeline garnered international attention, a new movie is bringing the story to the big screen.

“On Sacred Ground,” from married filmmakers Rebecca and Josh Tickell, tells the story of the monthslong protest against the construction of the oil pipeline, which ran through land sacred to Native Americans.

Rebecca Tickell joined New York Living on Monday to discuss the project.
