NEW YORK (PIX11) — As thousands of New York City area kids head back to school Tuesday– which is National Read a Book Day — it’s a perfect time to get children excited about reading books.

If parents are seen reading, it’s likely kids will mimic the behavior, according to Grace Bastidas, editor-in-chief, Parents.

“Reading is a great way to put down your devices and spend a little time together,” she said.

Bastidas joined New York Living Tuesday morning to give parents other tips to get children more excited about books.
