  • Molecule in soy sauce may help fight HIV

    NEW YORK (PIX11) — A molecule that’s used to enhance the flavors in soy sauce may help HIV patients from becoming resistant to drug therapies. It’s called EFdA. Researchers say it’s less likely to cause resistance in HIV patients because it’s activated quickly and is broken down more slowly. The molecule is being tested by the pharmaceutical company Merck. More studies are needed before it will be available as a treatment for HIV.  

  • Deadly crash shuts down Route 21 in Passaic

All northbound traffic is being diverted to Main Avenue while the investigation is underway. Police are on the scene. The cause of the fatal collision has not been determined.     NEW YORK (PIX11) — Toronto Mayor, Rob Ford, now admits that he has a substance abuse problem. Ford acknowledged Wednesday night that he was taking a leave of absence to get help. This comes after word of another video of him smoking crack cocaine surfaced. An audio recording was released of him allegedly using vulgar language in reference to him wanting to have sex with another candidate for Mayor. The Toronto Mayor is still seeking re-election in October.

    NEW YORK (PIX11) — A body pulled from the Hudson River has been identified as Hoboken jogger missing for nearly a month, his family said. Andrew Jarzyk, 27, disappeared after going for a jog early in the morning on April 1. His body was recovered Monday, found behind the Hoboken Lackawanna Terminal.
